While this may seem bad, the first pirate hunters that are sent after you will arrive in a brig. Once you get to 1 full pirate notoriety (getting a full colored icon of two swords crossed), pirate hunters will be sent after you since you now have a bounty on your head. Simply just destroy as many or any kind of enemy scooners you see fit. If you’re not ready to travel south into dangerous waters, you can actually use a method early on in the game where you can literally lure brigs to you. Also, always make sure to have lots of crew on board as boarding the Man O’ War for its loot can cause casualties. Rum and cloth aren’t worth much at this stage if you’re at the point where you’re taking on these big beasts. My general advice is to stay away from any Man O’ War that does not carry a large storage of wood or metal or sugar. Incredibly powerful, and are very likely to destroy you if your ship is under qualified for battle with it. These are basically the battleships of the west indies. They take well worth the effort to incapacitate and you get a fairly decent amount of loot anyways.
If Frigates put up a difficult fight it’s more than acceptable to use limited ammunition at your disposal. These are the ships you want to be looking for when you’re out there pirating for resources.ĭon’t be afraid to use heavy shot or motor shot on them. Stealing Resources from Frigatesįrigates are a much tougher sea opponent, but they hold incredible sums of inventory that are ripe for the taking. Repeat this process and you will amount wood, metal, cloth, and some rum among other things. It is more time efficient to just sink their ship, collect half of the loot, and find another brig to target. They sometimes have some great resources, but I personally find boarding a waste of time. Generally you want to destroy brigs as you usually do. If you aren’t comfortable with handling brigs, then I wouldn’t recommend following this guide just yet.
